Lumber

Our main lumber species are Hard maple, Soft maple, Yellow birch, Red oak, and American beech. We also process Black cherry, White birch, Aspen, Basswood, White ash, and several other hardwoods that grow in central Ontario. We will occasionally process softwoods such as Eastern hemlock or White pine for specialty orders. With strong quality control procedures and multiple graduates of the National Hardwood Lumber Association’s Lumber Inspector Training School at each facility, our facilities produce all of the standard grades of hardwood lumber as well as a wide range of industrial products. We are able to cut a wide variety of thicknesses and dimensions at each of our facilities.

Residues

Our sawmills produce three types of residues. Chips are primarily used by the pulp and paper industry as well as the biomaterials sector. Sawdust is primarily used by the panel board industry as well as the biomaterials sector. Bark is primarily used to manufacture mulch, which is used in landscaping, agriculture, and animal husbandry. We are also involved in the production of biochar through one of our affiliated companies that has operations located in Haliburton County.

Logs

Each of our facilities operates a full-service log yard. We are able to sort, scale, tag, and ship any kind of log that grows in our forest, including slicer veneer, rotary veneer, sawlogs, firewood, pulpwood, and specialty logs of a variety of species. We are experienced with servicing overseas export markets.
